In Hungarian they are simply called muskátli, and are recommended as the flower of choice for the talentless gardener as they tend to survive both bad weather and bad skills. Many windows of Budapest have a little geranium plantation outside, most often lovingly cared for by a little old lady who waters them during her daily street inspection. Besides decorative purposes, geraniums are also used in the perfume industry as a substitute for the more expensive rose extract. Shady little flowers, aren't they.
