Szigets of (not so) Old: 2011

Good camouflage is essential on the island

So are mean dance moves

You must also learn how to efficiently dance with your beer

Be very afraid of this man. Gogol Bordello.

And now we rest our chemistry. Interpol.

Well look who"s back after only one year: Kasabian

In for the Kill. La Roux.

Nicky Wire demure as always. Manic Street Preachers.

Bit of a diva: Marina and the Diamonds

The Sziget staple drink may be beer, but Matt Berenger begs to differ. The National.

The Man. The Moves. The Legend. Pulp.

   Proper relaxation is a must.

Some money making techniques won't hurt either

Szigets of Old: 2010

No Sziget outfit is complete without the perfect accessories

Drunk dancing in the blazing afternoon sun. Why the hell not.

Bring along your fan for a chance to look ladylike come what may

Best input on 30 Seconds to Mars

Got to give it to the man though. He IS trying hard.

Kasabian. For if any song was born to be blasted out at a festival, LSF must be the one

      A touch of pink

 Best venue to get married

      Muse

Yep. Said it before. It's all in the accessories. And those spaced out penguins                                          rock.

  Mister Howlin' Pelle is back

Perfect way to get around the island

Legitimate question.

Oh sadness, it's the end...for now...

Szigets of Old: 2009

It's reassuring to know Sziget will love even when I'll be an older hipster (which is the best kind of hipster after all, because you can safely say you liked everything before it was cool).

New beer, same habits.

 Bloc Party

Oh those Sziget main stage revelations: One can thoroughly enjoy Snow Patrol and yes every now and then, they do actually sound a bit stadium rock. Of the good kind.

Since no one will have my dog while I'm away, I'll just bring the bugger along and let him decide the next stage I'll visit. (This dog favoured the World Music Stage.)

Fashion dictators

Nothing beats showing up to the afternoon main stage session with nice clean hair

                                                                               IAMX

Figure making it to the bus when all your friends want a shot with the sign

                                                                            Lily Allen

Sziget is Love. Told you so.

                                                                   The Ting Tings

Sziget Stuff to be Excited About This Year: Editors

Szigets of Old: 2008

Sziget: time for your best behaviour throughout the year. And so it was in 2008 too.

Beer consumption must be done in style (the beer of the festival has changed throughout the years, these were the good old Arany Ászok days, mercifully there has been some progress since. Such as canned Czech beer. Which is looove.)

Brega!! Well he does come often. And if he's not here, then it's Emir Kusturica. Or both. (Though not together anymore). But anyways, it's a party.

Jose Gonzalez in the lovely (and sadly now defunct) WAN2 tent

                                                          Selfies before they were cool

Babyshambles...in shambles. Bad bands deserve bad puns, I guess. Though when your one interesting song is called Fck forever, it kind of makes sense.

Go with the flow (though QOTSA are playing VOLT this year)

 The festival guy!!

Jumping rope. Why the hell not!

Sziget Stuff to be Excited About This Year: The Cribs

Now I must admit to not being their biggest fan. I could list a few British indie acts that sound more exciting, to say the least. But it's nice to see some people veer off the beaten track for a club concert in some fairly strange Central European city, as the Cribs did last autumn. They must have liked it, for they'll return for Sziget. Welcome back.

My First Sziget Headliner

Sziget 2003. The days when we still had to carefully check out Budapest's transportation map to memorize the stop we need to get off at. (Filatorigát forever). And got lost at midnight in the maze of tents in the red area. Well, I still do get lost sometimes. Being lost is alright. And suffered through a day consuming "the other soda", because back then Sziget was The Other Soda Sziget. And faced the first onslaught of people coming from the main stage between concerts. That will never change I guess. So Massive attack was the first Sziget headliner I ever saw. Not a bad start, I might add.

Szigets of Old: 2007

Sziget is here soon..a bit of time travel to 2007, when Dylan didn't go electric but we switched from analog to digital and we lost some keys at the Manu Chao concert (it got a bit out of hand after that).

Here it goes:

Mando Diao!

Nine Inch Nails!

 The Crowd!

Well, uhm, the French (figure keeping your fancy Hives outfit clean when these people chase you with their love):

The Good, The Bad, The Queen (and Damon, who of course is back this summer)

The Hives!!!! (with several exclamation marks cause Pelle would like it so)

The Rakes (who remembers them?! We do, they are one awesome little festival band. The perfect soundtrack for 4PM)

And some press material, back from the day. We were oh so young and writing oh so in Romanian. Nostalgia mode on  :)

Nimic grav, ploaie englezească, numai bună pentru The  Good, the Bad and the Queen.
Ziua a treia. Pe scenă, bordel. Gogol Bordello.
Ziua a cincea.

Din deşert vin Eagles of Death Metal. The show is over. Întristaţi, agenţii iau ultimul autobuz spre centru. Şi promit să revină la anul.
