Drifting Clouds

I've been seeing a lot of Kalvin square lately, partly because it's on my route to work, but especially because   it has the best soup in town. And while you'r queuing for soup like a hipster, with many other hungry hipsters, you need to snap some shots. To my defense, at least I don't instagram.

Where I Go to Drink in the Shadows

From time to time, some great mind of our fair city decides it's not alright to enjoy yourself. It's not alright to be happy in your city, you must not tread the streets at night, alone, thinking, or assembled in groups, plotting to overthrow something, maybe. You should sleep. and most probably, obey. From time to time, some great mind of our fair city forgets that without the ruin bars those streets would simply be ruins.

Golden Hues

Haven't been out taking shots so much this autumn, by the time the trees got nice and golden the cold also arrived, bringing along the first (sort of) snow. Hopefully the warmer weather is just around the corner, until then, some shots from last year's harvest.

Drink Budapest

We sat in the corner bar at Victor’s and drank gimlets. “They don’t know how to make them here,” he said. “What they call a gimlet is just some lime or lemon juice and gin with a dash of sugar and bitters. A real gimlet is half gin and half Rose’s Lime Juice and nothing else. It beats martinis hollow.” (Raymond Chandler-The Long Goodbye). Gimlets to be had in Budapest, at Boutiq'Bar, on Paulay Ede street.

Sign of the Times

My ancestors watched the stars and the wilderness to keep up with the changing of the seasons. I know autumn is here because the H&M fall collection is being advertised on the corner of Bajcsy Zsilinszky street.

Enjoy It While You Can

This week the annual wine festival will be held in the castle and the Fozdefest (celebrating traditional Hungarian craft beers) will take place around Mikszath square. But the chill also arrives on Thursday, so one should enjoy the last classic Budapest spritzers of the season before the cold autumn breeze sets in.
