The Naked and Famous @ A38
The Naked and Famous are opening for Imagine Dragons on their US tour- I
wonder why on earth would they do that, since they’re just better. There’s
nothing particularly new about their music, but in the club setting of A38
their dreamy dance pop takes on an intense dimension that is not fully evident
on their studio recordings. Further proof that there’s nothing quite as
exciting in the Budapest night as a really good gig on A38.

Wonders of Tihany
Truth be said, I am not much of a Balaton person. I would never imagine it as the location of a summer holiday for it is, most definitely, a lake and as such misses those crucial elements of a seaside, such as the salt breeze and the rumble of the waves. The water is also a tad too muddy for me to be able to revel in it and lying on a slab of asphalt alongside aforementioned muddy water doesn't add anything positive to the experience. Tihany on the other hand is absolutely marvelous for a day break, or even a long weekend in early summer: the views are stunning (finally an advantage of the mud, it reflects light quite nicely), flowers are relentlessly blooming and fruit is ripening in every yard, the food is hearty and affordable and it all smells of lavender. Not your grandma's cupboard lavender, but the crisp, free scent of it growing in meadows and glades.

The Czecher, The Merrier
And here is more, accidentally encountered evidence to the thesis that Budapest is the praguest city that is not Prague. Ferdinánd Monarchia Sörház is neatly tucked onto the corner of Aradi and Szív streets and feels like the good soldier Švejk will rumble in any minute. The beer is limited to Ferdinand varieties but is absolutely excellent in all its shades (blonde, red, brown) and quite amazingly doesn't lead to a bad hangover even if consumed in large quantities.
