All flakes seem teetering on the brink of a grand decision to become raindrops after all. Slush forms here and there, overzealous homeowners spill bucketloads of salt onto the pavement. The prediction for the next days is slightly apocalyptic, frozen rain, sleet, and maybe frogs and such. But we got that snowfall we've all been waiting for, yes, we did.

First Snow of the Season
It was snowing, albeit anemically, when we left Budapest yesterday, hope to find more of it when we return tomorrow. I used to passionately resent winter, cold and snow until a few years ago. But one needs the winter to be able to really enjoy a spring. Though I have to admit I've learned to love winter for it's own sake, the cool crisp air of the darkish mornings, the freshness of waking up to snow. Growing wiser, maybe, or just older.

Hable con ella
It's kind of nice when mediocre coffee is at least compensated for by the cup, though it is a bit unfair to
Señor Almodóvar to pour anything mediocre in a cup bearing his name, since he's everything but that. I should abduct this cup (an idea Pedro would sort of approve of, I think), take it home, pour some top class espresso in it and watch Hable con ella, of which it most reminds me of.

January Rain
We've been having an eerily warm winter so far. It didn't really snow in Budapest at all and the forecast isn't very enthusiastic about it for the rest of January either. So it's warm, it sometimes rains and the city is swarming with people at night, like early spring. Although partial to warm weather, I really feel like snow right now- and I guess I won't be feeling like it so much in March, when it comes, if last year's trend goes on.
