The Loneliness of Christmas Trees

They start to show up on the streets in the first days of January, but most of them will be dumped after Epiphany. Some are worn, missing needles and branches, some have emptied candy shells still hanging onto them, some are still gloriously green and apparently unharmed, like this little fellow here. Seeing them always makes me quite sad, a memento of how time passes relentlessly and touches everything.
